Elizabeth Greenwood Obituary
Elizabeth "Betty" Greenwood (nee Cassans), age 91, of Mentor, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 9, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.
Born March 12, 1927 in Cleveland, she lived there and graduated third in her class from John Hay High School.
After graduation, she worked for the former Cleveland Hospital Service Association until her marriage to Robert Greenwood on September 8, 1951. They lived in East Cleveland until 1958, when they moved with their three children to Willoughby Hills. After her family was grown, she returned to employment as a secretary at the Willoughby-Eastlake Schools Tech Center, retiring in 1987 after 15 years of service. She is still remembered by former staff and students for her warm heart and kindness to all.
She was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was her top priority. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, history, and traveling with her husband. In their retirement, they traveled together throughout all 50 states and many parts of Canada.
Survivors are her beloved husband of over 66 years, Robert; daughters, Jane (Paul) Coumos of Mayfield Heights, and Laura (Ted) Weybrecht of Painesville Township; son, Stephen Greenwood of Mentor; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Her parents, Elizabeth Konicek and Nicholas Cassans; foster parents, Marion and Paul Raven; and brother, Frederick Cassans, are deceased.
Friends may call at Brickman Bros. Funeral Home, 37433 Euclid Ave. in Willoughby on Wednesday, July 11 from 4 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 12 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Whitehaven Cemetery in Mayfield Village.
Contributions in her memory may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, Ohio 44110, who lovingly assisted her family in Elizabeth's final days.
