Patricia McParland Obituary
Patricia Ann McParland, 69, died peacefully on September 4, in the arms of her husband and daughters.
Pat was born July 16, 1949, in Cleveland and has been a Geauga County resident since 1974. She was a graduate of Notre Dame College and received her Master's degree from Kent State University.
Her career as a teacher included employment in Cleveland and Berkshire school systems. She spent the last 20 years of her career working joyfully at schools in the Cleveland Heights system.
Pat was a devoted mother, who most enjoyed supporting her daughters' activities, attending softball, basketball, and track events, and ringing her ever present cow bells. She was an animal lover and enjoyed growing beautiful flowers on her Newbury farm. Traveling with friends and family brought her great joy. Some of her favorite destinations included the Canadian Rockies, Yosemite, Glacier, Yellowstone, and Crater Lake National Parks. She enjoyed a final trip to many of these locations in the last year of her life.
Pat will most be remembered for her great love and generosity. Friends and family were always receiving little gifts and notes of encouragement. She brought great joy to everyone she met. Her beautiful smile will be remembered forever by all who knew her.
Pat was the daughter of Anton R. and Betty A. Stupavsky (Kovach) (deceased); and sister of Caroline (Chuck) Ritley, who preceded her in death, earlier this year. Her role model and beloved aunt, Ann Stanko is also deceased.
She was the beloved wife of Jack McParland for 48 years; and the loving mother of her daughters, Margie (Greg White), of Denver, and Ann (Shane) O'Keefe, of Garrettsville.
She was preceded in death by brother-in-law, Paul McParland; and sisters-in-law, Margaret and Mary Pat McParland.
Survivors include sisters-in-law, Pam McParland, Janet (Steve) Baughman, Kate (Mark) Cianci, and Jeanne (David) Comperchio; and brothers-in-law, Chuck Ritley, Kevin McParland and Tim McParland (Audrey Katzman). She will be sorely missed by 16 nieces and nephews. She is also survived by dozens of great friends that she cherished like family.
Services to celebrate Pat's amazing life will be conducted by Pastor John Lentz, at Forest Hills Presbyterian Church, 3031 Monticello Blvd., Cleveland Heights, Ohio, on September 15, at 2 p.m.
The family will greet guests at the church from 1 to 2 p.m.
Pats final wishes include a request that friends and relatives join the family for "one last big party" after the services. Location of the party will be provided at the service.
The family requests that donations in her honor be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (pulmonaryfibrosis.org).
