Ron and I survived a miserable combat tour in Vietnam together, and there was no one in the platoon I would rather have watching my back. In all situations; patrols, ambushes, or back breaking airmobile infantry operations, Ron never shirked a task. I regret that we never saw each other after that; only spoke on the phone once or twice thru the years. He was a poet warrior, and a true friend. May his sons honor his legacy; a legacy of leadership. And may a merciful God bring comfort to his family.

Dear Ron, how do I say farewell? It's so difficult to believe we'll never talk and see each other again. Not to see that questioning look in your eyes. I will truly miss you dear heart. You will ALWAYS hold a special place in my heart. Farewell for now.

Ron was a neighbor of mine for many years and a charter member of the "Melridge Gang". When we put our swimming pool in, over 20 years ago, he was the first to help. Ron put many hours in to help fix our antique car. Ron never hesitated to help our family. The first time I met Ron he was pulling Zach and Spencer in a wagon, taking them to the nearby baseball field. He was a sports coach for many seasons and was always there for many kids. Ron loved a good talk about politics and stood firm in his beliefs, even when other people disagreed. He often talked of his time in Vietnam and his stories were of bravery. Ron has been a brave warrior in his recent battle. I will miss him so very much. My thoughts and prayers go to his boys, his family, and to Jackie. Love you guys
