Ruth Ann Dreger Obituary
Ruth Ann Dreger, 100, of Willowick, Ohio went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sept. 9, 2018 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Mentor, Ohio.
Ruth was born in Cleveland but the family moved to Hiram in 1921. She graduated from Hiram High School in 1936.
Jobs were scarce at that time until the attack on Pearl Harbor, when there were plenty of factory jobs for women. She began working for Leece Neville Company in 1942 and remained there until she began her teaching career at Chesterfield School in Cleveland, where she remained until retirement in 1983.
She earned her teaching degree attending Kent State University night classes in Cleveland. During these years, the family drove from Hiram to Cleveland every Sunday to attend Daisy Ave. Church of God.The large family was very active in programs of the church and Ruth was Sunday School Superintendent for 15 years. She loved singing with her sisters and playing the piano and organ. In 1967, she relocated to Mentor Community Church of God where she faithfully served as church treasurer and continued to play the organ.
Ruth lived in Euclid with her two sisters and elderly parents from 1957 to 2001. After the passing of her parents and sisters, she moved to Willowick.
Ruth is survived by her sister, Evelynn Lonnberg, of Evansville, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gustav and Jennie (Ristau) Dreger; brothers, Robert, Walter, Alvin, Adolph, William, and Gilbert; and sisters, Martha, Ida (Lau Weigelt), Margaret (Schulz), Lydia, and Esther; and a host of nieces and nephews. She
lived a long beautiful life, had great influence on many lives, loved by family and friends and will be greatly missed.
A Funeral service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 10 a.m. at Brickman Bros. Funeral Home, 37433 Euclid Ave., Willoughby, where family will receive friends Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10 a.m.
Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Hiram at 11:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Brookdale Hospice would be appreciated.
