William A. Pinkava Obituary
William A. Pinkava, 90, of Mayfield Hts., and more recently, Chardon, died July 12, 2019, at UHHS Geauga Hospital in Munson Twp. Mr. Pinkava was born November 21, 1928, in Cleveland. He was a proud graduate of Collinwood High School and Ohio University, where he played trumpet in the bands. Mr. Pinkava was a veteran of the Korean War, and was often seen sporting a Korean War Vet ball cap. He was a mechanical engineer at Bailey Meter Co. and H.K. Ferguson. He enjoyed traveling and playing pinochle, and loved all animals, especially dogs. He liked music, and shared that passion with his children and grandchildren. Time spent with family always brought a smile to his face. Survivors are his wife, Virginia; children, Linda (Charles Hall) Silakoski, William (Kathy) Pinkava, and Richard (Julie) Pinkava; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his former son-in-law, Anthony Silakoski. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Evelyn Pinkava. A private family service will be held. Arrangements entrusted to the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060.
