Joel Leonard Diffie Jr.

JEFFERSON — Funeral services for Joel Leonard ­Diffie Jr., 87, of Jefferson, Texas, will be 3 p.m. Sunday, January 22, 2012, at the Capt. Wm. Perry Chapel of Haggard Funeral Home, with the Rev. Darwin Roraback officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. today, January 21, 2012, with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m. in the chapel under the direction of Haggard Funeral Home of Jefferson.
Mr. Diffie was born August 19, 1924, in Camden, Arkansas, to Joel Leonard Diffie Sr. and Blanche Hendricks Diffie. He passed away January 17, 2012, in Jefferson, Texas.
He was retired from the Thiokol ammunition plant, and he worked as a sheet metal fabricator for a number of years. He enjoyed fishing, bike riding, playing the harmonica and banjo, and he also enjoyed fixing things.
He was preceded in death by his brother, John Diffie.
Mr. Diffie is survived by his daughter, Mary Patricia and husband, Bryan Maertins of Jefferson; son, Jeff Diffie and wife, JuHyun, of Japan; daughter-in-law, Deborah Diffie of Harleton, Texas; grandchildren, Joel Isaac Diffie, Sarah, Hannah, Elizabeth and Samuel Diffie and Josiah, Jaci, Joy and Joseph Maertins.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Nance, Harold Crumbie, Daniel Roraback, John ­Mosley, John Cornelius and Wesley Gray.
