Barbara Alteri, 64, of Port Orange, and formerly of Syracuse, NY, passed away peacefully on July 9. She was born in Syracuse in 1954, attending Bishop Ludden High School. She then attended Syracuse University via Utica College, where she received her bachelors, followed by her Master's degree in Social Work. She quickly joined many organizations locally, including the Eagles, Lions Club, AMVETS, and stayed active with her church, visiting the sick. She is survived by her mother, Patricia McArdell and sister Eileen O'Connor, of Daytona Beach Shores, her son Joseph Alteri, of Albany NY, and her partner, Ray "Rocky" Siracusa of Port Orange. A funeral mass in her honor will be at Our Lady of Hope in Port Orange on Friday 7/13 @ 8:30. Additional services and burial will be held in Syracuse, NY.
