Funeral service for Bernard Cary Jarvis, 71, Center St., Daytona Beach, who passed away Sunday, August 17, 2008, in St. Petersburg, will be held Friday, Aguust 29, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the Dale Woodward Funeral Home, 167 Ridgewood Ave., Holly Hill, with Chaplain Jim Smith and VFW Post 1590 officiating. Friends wishing to call and pay their respects may do so Thursday, Aguust 28, 2008, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Jarvis was born in Calhoun Co., W. Va., and moved to this area in 1968 from Akron, Ohio. He worked for Ormond Beach Elementary School and Daytona Beach Community College. An Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, Bernard was a lifetime member of VFW Post 1590, a member and Past Commander of American Legion #267, Ormond Beach, member Holly Hill Eagles and the Daytona Beach Christian Church. He also enjoyed bowling. Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Dee Jarvis, California, and Tressie Havenner, Palm Coast; four sons, Edward Jarvis and Jack Ray Jarvis, both of Daytona Beach, and Michael Cary Jarvis and David Lee Jarvis, both of Holly Hill; a sister, Tressie Sharp, Akron, Ohio; a brother, Holland "Buck" Jarvis, Akron, Ohio; 22 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
