Charles David Hartung
Charles David Hartung, 85, New Smyrna Beach, died Sunday, April 29, 2018 at the Hospice Care Center, Edgewater. Charlie was born in Decatur, Alabama and had been a resident of the area since 1944, coming from Knoxville, Tennessee. He graduated from Mainland High School, Daytona Beach in 1951 and served in the National Guard Army Reserve. He was a Journeyman Lineman for Florida Power & Light Co., servicing the Southeast Volusia County area for 37 years. He served as President of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 1066 for 20 years. He was a System Council U-4 delegate and member of the SC U-4 negotiating committee for sixteen years and a lifetime member of the New Smyrna Beach-Edgewater Elks Lodge #1557. Survivors include four children, Cherie (Bruce) Harnden, Dean (Ruth) Hartung, Alison (Bob) Hinderschied and Holli (Harpo) Harp; six grandchildren, Rikki Bode, Sean (Tara) Keeth, Clayton Howard, Charlie (Anna) Chisholm and Cody and Dylan Chisholm and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Steven Hartung, brother, Lonnie Hartung and two sisters, Cherie Hartung and Evelyn Mills. A Celebration of Life will be from 1PM until 5PM, Sunday, May 20, 2018 at the Elks Lodge, 820 W. Park Ave., Edgewater.
