Daniel Francis Broderick passed from this life into eternal life on May 15, 2018, in Flagler Beach, Florida, at the age of 84. He was born on March 15, 1934, in Detroit, Michigan, to James and Jenny (nee Bergin) Broderick. His father emigrated from Ireland in 1908, and raised seven children with Jenny. In 2001, Daniel was preceded in death by his first wife, Edith (nee Bentheimer) Broderick, with whom he reared four daughters, one of whom, Eve Marie Nugent, also preceded him in death in 2004. His six older siblings, William, James, JoAnn, Leo, Alice, and Donald, also preceded him in death. Daniel was a 1952 graduate of Detroit Catholic Central High School and a 1956 cum laude graduate of the University of Detroit. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Heidelberg, Germany. He worked for the Internal Revenue Service for thirty years in Detroit, for which he received the Albert Gallatin Award for faithful service. Daniel retired to Flagler Beach in 1990 with Edith, enjoying competitive tennis, swimming, travel, and serving as a trustee for the Flagler County Library. He also volunteered with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, helping the needy prepare their taxes. He supported numerous charities throughout the years, giving generously of his time, talent, and treasure. Daniel is survived by his second wife, Margaret "Peggy" Kalush, whom he married in 2007. Travel enthusiasts, Daniel and Peggy visited many countries together. Daniel is also survived by his children, Christina (Thomas) Niemiec, Monica (John) Broderick Cantwell, and Maura (Mike) Jary. He had six grandchildren, Aaron (Marie) Niemiec, Elizabeth (Rob) Seimetz, Shannon (Chuck) Nadd, Andrew (Lauren) Jary, Katie Nugent, and Jessica Jary. In addition, four great grandchildren survive him. The funeral Mass will be held on June 4, 2018, at 11am at St. Joseph's Carmelite Monastery, 141 Carmelite Drive, Bunnell, Florida 32110.
