Eric Doyle Obituary

A "Celebration of Life" for Eric G. Doyle, 84, who passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2008, in his native England, will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, March 23, at the Streamline Hotel, Daytona Beach. Mr. Doyle was a longtime resident of Daytona Beach and was the senior partner of the Streamline Hotel and Lounge and of Doyle Properties. Born September 17, 1924, Mr. Doyle served with great distinction in the Royal British Naval Forces in World War II. After his war service, he put his culinary skills to work as a pastry chef at various venues in Great Britain. After his retirement, he settled in Daytona Beach, where he invested in real estate properties and took great pride in his restoration of the historic Streamline and Lyndhurst Hotels. Mr. Doyle was also known for his philanthropic contributions to many Daytona Beach charities. Among his interests, he was a collector of American presidential memorabilia here in his adopted country. Mr. Doyle is survived by his niece, Dorothy Turner and her husband Michael and their two sons who reside in the U.K. Celebrating his life here will be his longtime friend, Ray Stearns, and his business partner, Richard Postlewait; along with his many friends and employees. The public is invited to attend the Celebration of Life on Easter Sunday at 6 p.m. at the Streamline Hotel.
