Gerard A. Marschheuser

Gerard A. Marschheuser, 89, passed away Friday, December 1, 2006 at Florida Memorial Hospital, Ormond Beach, Fla. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a Management Supervisor for The Long Island Railroad in New York and prior to that, he was a Master Sargent with the United States Army and had served with the Honor Guard at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington D.C. He also served during World War II and saw combat in the North African Campaign and is the recipient of many citations including the Bronze Star. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 1590, Daytona Beach, and served as a Captain on the Honor Guard. He enjoyed football and baseball and he loved to travel. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Joanne Marschheuser, Ormond Beach; one son, Gary, also of Ormond Beach; and two granddaughters, Christine and Melissa. There will be a private military service held graveside at a later date. Arrangements are under the care and trust of Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, Ormond Beach.
