Herky was a mentor, a teacher, a nurturer. The first time I met him, he arrived in a rush at the animal clinic, raced out of his truck carrying a huge hound dog with a 6 inch fish hook stuck through his muzzle. Herky was in tears and begged us to "save his dog." Herky, Bless His Heart, had more fishhoks stuck in his hat than the one we cut off the pup LOL. He needed the anesthesia. On a more serious note, God took notes from Herky's Dad and his friend Phil Spinney and called Herky to Heaven's Gates to see what they see up there. All my best to the family. M. Kephart

Dear Huffman family sorry for your loss. My father (Skip) told me stories about Herky when I was a kid. What a wonderful legacy he leaves behind. I always loved Uncle Hersy also. They both will be greatly missed.

What an awesome guy Herky was! He wasas one of the few that understood what it was to be a public servant. He served and didn't look to be served. God bless the family...

Dear Huffman family,
I count myself fortunate to be known as one of Herky's friends since high school at Edgewater and then on our occasional consultations over many years concerning the real estate rental and management market. Now as a member of the clergy, I am offering my prayers for the peace and comfort of the family in this time of terrible loss and for the soul of this great man that he may rest in peace in the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

As one of Herky's first cousins, I have many fond childhood memories his stories of hunting, fishing, and exploring his beloved Florida swamps. As an adult, I admired his passion for preserving the unique environment he loved so much. Herky will be sorely missed by our family and by all who knew him.

My heartfelt condolences to Herky's family over their loss of a great husband, father and grandfather. Herky and I played on a half-pint football team together, and shared our high school years, and Orlando Junior college. He will be missed by all who knew him.
So long, Herky
