Mass of Christian Burial for Hugh William Cash, 80, Old Kings Road, Holly Hill, who died Sunday, June 11, 2006, at Hospice Care Center, Port Orange, will be 9 a.m. Thursday, June 15, at The Basilica of St. Paul's Catholic Church, 317 Mullally St., Daytona Beach. Interment will follow at Daytona Memorial Park with military honors. The pallbearers will be his grandsons. Visitation at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home is today, (Wednesday) from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. with a vigil service at 6 p.m. Mr. Cash was born Oct. 14, 1925, in Athens, Ga., and moved from there to this area in 1954. He retired from Volusia County. He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, was a Georgia Bulldog fan, baseball and gardening; he was referred to as "The Tomato King." His greatest joy was his grandchildren. He was a member of The Basilica of St. Paul Catholic Church, Prince of Peace Catholic Church, VFW Post 1590, American Legion #0400, past president of Holly Hill Youth Association, National Youth Sports Coach Association, and an original member of Daytona Beach Police Reserves. He also coached baseball in Holly Hill for 25 years. He was also a licensed funeral director in the state of Georgia. He was a Navy veteran of World War II serving in the European Theatre. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Patricia; three sons, Hugh T. (Cheryl) Cash, Ormond Beach, Michael L. (Deanne) Cash, South Daytona, and John E. (Jennifer) Cash, Port Orange; three brothers, Frank (Theresa) Cash, Athens, Ga., Harvey (Shirley) Cash, Acworth, Ga., and James (Sharon) Cash, Elberton, Ga.; two sisters, Divonia (David) Cline, Canton, Ohio, and Ruth (William) Fowler, Athens, Ga; eight grandchildren, Hugh T. Cash, Bryan M. Cash, Brad M. Cash, Joseph A. Cash, Brandon M. Cash, John M. Cash, Mikenna L. Cash and Ryan L. Cash, all local; two great-grandchildren, Bryan M. Cash Jr. and Isabella M. Cash, both local.
