James Nixon

James T.Nixon walked into the arms of the Lord and joined his Beloved wife of 58 years, Delores "Jodie" Nixon on Wednesday May 20, 2009. He was born on September 16, 1925 in Springfield, TN to the late Elsie and Verda (nee Cobb) Nixon. He graduated from Springfield High School (TN), after which time he joined the United States Navy serving in World War II. His PT squadron 27 had the honor of returning General McArthur to the Philippines. In 1956 he moved to Holly Hill area from Clarksville, TN, he retired as a Plumber/Pipe Fitter for Local 295 in Daytona Beach. James Nixon was a member of the VFW Post #1590 (Daytona Beach). He enjoyed fishing, football, and a good-hearted laugh. He was predeceased in death by the love of his life, Jodie and his cherished sister, Patsy Ruth Mitchell. He is survived by his son, Michael W. (Vicki) Nixon of Holly Hill; two daughters, Robbie D. Nixon of Daytona Beach and Patti L. (Shon) McGuire of Port Orange; seven grandchildren, Lisa, Beth, Shanna, Kristi, Lindsey, Matthew, Shon David; four great-grandchildren, Nina, Saydee, Kylei, Dyles; and nieces, Lynn Widman, Carol Rampey, Kathy Helms, and Larry Mitchell. His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege to know and love him. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 in the Ormond Beach Chapel of Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 548 N. Nova Road. Interment will follow in Volusia Memorial Park, 550 N. Nova Road. The family will be receiving friends from 11:00 A.M. til 1:00 P.M. (Service time) on Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Memorial Donations may be made in his memory to The American Diabetes Association, 1101 N. Lake Destiny Road, # 415, Maitland, FL 32751-7105. Arrangements are under the care and trust of Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, Ormond Beach.
