Reginald Maurice Joseph Auriel (Frenchy) Berthiaume Sr. Obituary

Passed away Wed., Oct. 7th, 2015, at 85 years of age. He was born in Berlin, New Hampshire to the late Dominique and Armandine (Napert) Berthiaume. He has a Sister, Theresa Martineau (Harvey) of Gorham NH. Frenchy was a 22 yr. veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He joined in 1952, Basic training at Parris Island S.C. He was a linguist of four languages and interpreter during the Vietnam War, where he did two tours of 26 months total. He was very proud of the corps and received medals and honors for his service. He was in the Mounted Color Guard. After he retired, he moved to Pierson, Fla. and bought a feed Store. He was active in the Volunteer Fire Dept. and very active with the VFW and American Legion, he was a Life Member of both. He was Commander of VFW Post 9726 Pierson for several yrs.; he was National Deputy Chief of Staff of Fla. 1995, District 19 Commander 1994-95. He was Commander of Post 1590 Daytona Beach, Fla. and much more. Frenchy loved to play Bingo, Lotto and go on gambling boats. He also had a love of collecting cars. He was an amazing cook, loved the holidays and decorating especially at Christmas, that was his time of year. Remember the smile and his pride and joy, his moustache. Nobody messed with his moustache. He was so happy to be in his home surrounded by all the things he loved and this is where he wanted to end his journey. Strawberry Waffles from Perkins was one of his pleasures, and Ice Cream! Frenchy was preceded in death by his loving wife, Martha Connel Berthiaume whom he met and married in Feb. 1954; she passed i n 1995. And his second wife, Jene' T. Berthiaume who passed in 2010. With his first wife, he adopted her daughter, Katherine Roan of Astor, Fla. They also adopted a son and daughter from Athens Greece, Reginald M. Berthiaume Jr. (Marcela) of Orlando, Fla. And Dianna L. Berthiaume-Childress (Larry) of Deland, Fla. Has nine Grandchildren, Cory Smith Orlando Fla., Jeff Smith, Tenn., Ricky Smith, Daytona Beach, Fla. and Paula Smith Payne of Astor, Fla. Tiffany, Alexa and Samantha Berthiaume of Orlando, Fla. He also has two-step grand-daughters, Eva Raiser and Angela Childress both of Orlando, Fla. He also has 14 Great grandchildren and four Great-Great grandchildren. And very special people who helped make his days, Mark and Ann Brogan. Frenchy was a handful at times but will be missed by all who loved him. Miss you so much. Love always to you. Twirl that stash and give mom a hug. Semper Fi Do or Die. A Memorial Service will be held at VFW Post 1590, Daytona Beach, Fla. Oct. 25, 2015 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the VFW Home in Frenchy's name.
