A memorial celebration for Robert Charles Rhodey, 83, of Ormond Beach, who passed away Jan. 26, 2015, will be held Saturday at 11:00 am at the Dale Woodward Funeral Home, 167 Ridgewood Ave., Holly Hill with Father Phil Egitto officiating. Military Honors and celebration will be held directly following the service at American Legion unit 120, 461 Walker Ave, Holly Hill beginning at 12:00pm. A native of Baltimore, MD, Mr. Rhodey moved to this area in 1982 from his birth place. He retired as a manager for the Coca-Cola Bottling Company then went to work as a Volusia County Bus Driver. A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, he served our country during the Korean War. Robert's memberships included Masonic Lodge #326, Ormond Beach, Bahia Shrine Temple, American Legion Post #120, Holly Hill where he was past commander, D.A.V. Chapter 84, VFW Post 1590, Daytona Beach, F.O.E. #3800, Ormond Beach and the Moose Lodge #1263. In lieu of other remembrances the family suggests donations be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607. Survivors include his beloved wife, Shirley; two sons, Douglas (Patrice), Fall-ston, MD and Michael (Maryann), Renton, WA; step-son, Dale Hidden, Baltimore, MD; a sister, Anne Leimbach (Oliver), Myrtle Beach, SC; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
