Robert "Ted" Shockney

Funeral mass for Robert "Ted" Shockney, 88, Ormond Beach, who passed away Sunday May 13, 2007, will be celebrated 1 p.m. Saturday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Father William Neumann as celebrant. A reception will follow the mass and interment will follow at Daytona Memorial Park. Mr. Shockney was born in Shreveport, La., and moved to this area in 1920. He graduated from St. Paul's Junior High School and went on to receive a degree in bookkeeping from the Mary Karl Vocational School and graduated from D.B.C.C. with an accounting degree. He joined the U.S. Army during World War II and served in the European Theatre from 1942 to 1945. Following the war, he graduated from the Lewis Hotel Training School in Washington D.C. with a degree in food and accounting. From 1949 to 1955, he and his father developed 530 acres in Ormond Beach into the Tomoka Estates subdivision. In 1960 he became a self-employed bookkeeper until his retirement. He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, National Society of Public Accountants, National Association of Tax Practitioners, National Society of Tax Professionals, Florida Accountants Association, Florida Association of Independent Accountants and V.F.W. Post 1590 in Daytona Beach. Mr Shockney is survived by two nephews, G.W. "Monk" Noell Jr., Ormond Beach, and Don Noell, Fort Pierce. Memorial donations may be made to Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 620 S. Nova Road, Ormond Beach FL 32174. Arrangements are under the direction of Haigh-Black Funeral Home.
