Memorial service for Morton Brooks Hansard, 80, Sundance Trail, New Smyrna Beach, who died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005, at Port Orange Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at Dale Woodward Funeral Home, 167 Ridgewood Ave., Holly Hill, with the Rev. Wiley Lowe officiating. Mr. Hansard was born in Buford, Ga., and moved to this area 79 years ago from Buford. Mr. Hansard served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. He was a charter member of Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church. He was a land developer and co-owner of Vedder's & Hansard's Inc., which were responsible for multiple developments in the Daytona Beach area. He was a member and past president of Volusia Home Builders Association and was former Builder of the Year and a member of the Kiwanis Club. He was a graduate of Mainland High School and Guilford College in North Carolina. He had a second home in Maggie Valley, S.C., where he loved to spend his summers. He loved backpacking, fishing, camping, traveling and his family. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth; sons, Gary Hansard and Bill Hansard, both of Ormond Beach; sister, Charlotte Hansard Horton, Jacksonville; five grandchildren, Valerie Duhl, W. Brooks Hansard, Braden Hansard, Nicole Churchill and Terri Hansard; two great-grandchildren, Austin Churchill and Lillian Rose Duhl. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 111 N. Frederick Ave. Ste. 100, Daytona Beach, FL 32114.
