In Loving Memory of

Feb. 1 marks the one-year anniv. of the death of Henry Foland Boyd, 2 wks short of his 85th birthday. His dtr Elizabeth (Betsy) Ann Boyd McKinney was by his side at the memory care facility in Westlake, Ohio, near her home. A memorial service was held 6/15/12 , Ft. Logan Nat'l Cemetery, Denver, CO, where his sister, Mary Jane Boyd Bradt, and brother-in-law Albert Bradt, are also interred. He is survived by dtr, Elizabeth, Bay Village, OH; son David James Boyd, Acworth, GA; grandchildren: Davis (Cincinnati, OH), Stuart (Twinsburg, OH), and Claire McKinney, (Lakewood, OH); and Andrew (Atlanta, GA) and Elizabeth Boyd, (Acworth, GA); brother David Jackson Boyd, Louisville, CO; and 6 nieces and nephews. He was married for many yrs to the late Fannie Louise Strick. He was preceded in death by mother Mary Wadsworth Marquis Boyd, father Estes Jackson Boyd, Longmont, CO; brother Howard Marquis Boyd; and sister Mary Jane, Aurora, CO. He resided in FL for 30 yrs (St. Petersburg, Port Orange, and Holly Hill) before moving to OH, Oct. 2011. A graduate of PA State Univ., he was employed as an engineer at Aircraft Porous Media, Pinellas Park, FL until his retirement. Before his move to FL, he and his family lived in the Philadelphia area: Croydon, Elkins Park, and Maple Glen. He was born in New Brighton (2/14/27), graduating from New Brighton High School. A Navy World War II veteran, boating enthusiast, and amateur photographer, he was also an avid genealogist, with membership in Sons of the American Revolution, original House of Boyd Society, and Clan Boyd. Henry will be remembered as a Scottish bagpiper willing to share his talent and love of pipe music in many venues, including the Volusia Co. Genealogical Society, St. Petersburg (FL) International Folkfair, and Stone Mountain (GA) and Grandfather Mountain (NC) Highland Games. His bagpipe tunes CD is entitled "The Auld Highlands."
