Stella Montgomery Obituary

Stella Lechner Montgomery

Stella Lechner Montgomery peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home, Thursday, July 17, 2013 at the age of 90. She was born April 17, 1923 to Edward and Lena Lechner in Verona, MO.

In 1941 she was employed by the area engineers then constructing Camp Crowder. After Crowder was constructed she worked for the post ordinance on the Crowder Reservation until the Camp was closed in 1946. She was one of the last to go.

In 1946 she was employed by Haas Enterprises consisting of three companies: Haas Warehousing, Inc., Neosho Ice and Cold Storage, Inc. and McNeo Cold Storage, Inc. In time these three were merged into one company known as Haas Warehousing, Inc. Stella was employed by R. A. (Bob) Haas, President, as Corporate Secretary until her retirement in 1989, a total of 43 years.

Stella was a member of St. Canera's Catholic Church in Neosho where she devoted many hours to various ministries and to helping others. It could be said that her chief joy and finest attribute was visiting and caring for family and friends when needed which was often a long term, long distance commitment. Other times it meant running errands, providing lunch, visiting and caring for children, pets, and once returning to the office for temporary duty. Stella was also a loyal volunteer participant in Meals on Wheels as part of St. Canera's ministry.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Lena Lechner, brothers Edward E. Lechner and Bernard C. Lechner, and sisters Dorothy Smith and Betty Kelsey.

She is survived by her brothers, Earl R. "Bob" Lechner of Springfield, Clarence H. "Snags" Lechner of Aurora and a sister-in-law, Roah Nell "Ronnie" Lechner of Verona, as well as a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Vigil Services will be held at 5:00 P. M. Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Chapel of Memories, Clark Funeral Home, Neosho with visitation following until 6:00 P.M. Funeral Mass will be Monday, July 22, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Canera's Catholic Church, Neosho, MO. Officiating will be Father Hank Grodecki, C.M.; co-celebrant, Father Ruben Restrepo, C.M. Cremains will be interred at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Verona, MO.
