Donald Findley Obituary

Donald Findley

Donald C. Findley passed away on December 10, 2012 in Springfield, MO. He was born July 27, 1936, the first child of Clyde V. and Freda (Reese) Findley in Mansfield, MO. He attended Mansfield schools and served in the US Army from 1959 to 1965.

On October 20, 1962 he married the love of his life, Lena F. "Smokie" Moore and they celebrated 50 wonderful years together. Don retired from City Utilities in April 1997 after 34 years of service. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist church and Springfield Elks Lodge #409.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Smokie, and one son, Todd S. Findley; sister Doris Grevillius; brother Warren Findley and several nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday December 14, 2012 at 1:00pm in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors will be in Eastlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, December 13 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm in the funeral home.

Smokie I was so shocked and sorry to hear of Don's death. I just couldn't make it to his visitation or memorial service, I hope you understand. I'm sorry I was in such bad shape when you called me recently. Praying for strength and comfort for you.

We will all miss Don, he was a good man, would help anyone, all you needed to do was just ask, Don was a Elk at heart, and alway had his heart in the right place, just ask any ELK that new him, Don was sure a big help to me, now Don is in a better place where he can watch out for all of us, I am sure God needed his help. ( Smokie ) Don will always be in our hearts, and he will be there for you right beside God. You have our prayers, Raymond and Debbie Ash.
