Donna Howard Obituary

Donna Marie (Lambur) Howard

Donna Marie (Lambur) Howard of Springfield, Missouri, formerly of Sedalia, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 with family by her side at the age of 66. She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Marvin Howard who passed away in February 2007. Her parents Edward and Eleanore Lambur, and her brother David also preceded her in death. Donna is survived by her loving children and their families whom she deeply cherished: Christie Greene and fiancé, Tim Blasi, and grandchildren Andy and Abby of Springfield; John Howard and grandchildren Taylor, Payton and Dylan of Sedalia; Libby and husband Eric Ecker and grandchildren Ella and Eli of Springfield; and Katie and her husband Toby Yates and grandchildren Jaxon, Brady and Sydney of Springfield. She is also survived by four siblings: Mike Lambur and his wife Carroll of San Antonio, TX; Sue Lambur and her husband Rob Kiehm of Eureka, MO; Linda Kassoff and her husband Scott of Ellisville, MO; Steve Lambur and his wife Kathy of Kansas City, MO, nieces and nephews and many friends.

Donna was born in St. Louis, Missouri on September 20. She attended college at the University of Missouri-Columbia where she met her husband, Larry. Donna and Larry lived in Sedalia for many years where they were proud supporters of the Sedalia School District and Smith-Cotton Athletics. Donna divided her time between Springfield, Missouri where she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren; and Ft. Myers Beach, Florida, where she enjoyed serene views on the beach and quality time with many good friends. Donna was active in the Missouri Women's Golf Association and proudly supported efforts in women's golf in the state of Missouri.

The family would like to express special thanks to Barnes-Jewish Hospital and the care given by her wonderful team of doctors for performing a double lung transplant in August, 2012, for which she was ever grateful and gave her a renewed sense of hope.

A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday December 16, 2012 from 1:00 P.M-3:00 P.M in Millwood Golf & Racquet Club, Springfield, MO.

The family requests that you please consider the donation of life by registering to be an organ donor at www.missouriorgandonor.com. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Donna's memory to the Larry and Donna Howard Memorial Fund for the Sedalia School District or the Missouri Women's Golf Association.

Donna and Larry were always special people to me. My partner was Jim Ware and he was introduced to the Rio Grande Valley by Marvin Howard. They flew down for golf and grapefruit and he and Marvin were great pals. I knew Donna and Larry through Jim and we always looked them up when we were in Sedalia. I pray for your family at this difficult time and know that Larry and Donna are together again! God Bless You All. Sally Williams, Fulton, MO

Christie, John, Libby, and Katie. So very sorry to hear about your Mom. I remember her and your Dad as larger than life figures always rooting for Christie and I, and whatever teammates we had at the time. The memories live on through each of you. They were awesome parents, and that alone is a great memory. I am sure she and Larry are having a grand time reuniting. May that give you all some sort of peace during this difficult time.

Donna, I won't say goodbye but only - till we meet again in a place without pain or suffering. Let's walk the beach and enjoy the sunshine of heaven. There are so many fond memories growing up with you. I will miss our conversations, glass of wine, laughter, discussions about growing older and plain old "having you around". I will hold that last hug we had before you left my house to return home last month forever in my heart. Love you always. To Christie, John, Libby and Katie and all your beautiful children and spouses, please know she adored you all. Linda's sentiments stated it so well - you are her legacy. Love you all.
