Bill Stinnett

Fordland - Billy J. "Bill" Stinnett, 86, Fordland, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Wilson's Creek Nursing Center, Springfield.

He was born September 8, 1931 in Webster County, Missouri, the son of the late Claud and Helen (Mitchell) Stinnett. He was united in marriage on June 3, 1957 to Dona P. Gately. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Stinnett in 2015.

Bill was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran serving during the Korean War. In his younger days he loved playing fast pitch softball in Lakewood, CA before moving back to his family's Missouri Century Farm in 1975. He was a mechanic by trade and enjoyed working on old trucks. He attended Cass Chapel Baptist Church and will be greatly missed by his family.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dona; a daughter, Christine Styer and husband Fred; two sons, Wayne and Stephen Stinnett; a granddaughter, Jana Cunningham; six grandchildren, Abel, Carson, Brandon, Quinton, Grayson and Evelyn; a brother, Jimmy Dyer; a sister, Linda Vavak; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 1, 2018 in J.D. Lee and Sons Funeral Home, Rogersville. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Steward Cemetery, Fordland.


Visitation will be held from 6 - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 31, 2018 in the funeral home.
