Carla Mae Calvin

Carla Mae Calvin was born June 13, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois. She was the daughter of Carl H. Calvin and Nell Damon. Carla died after a short illness on February 14, 2012 at home surrounded by her friends.

She graduated from Resurrection Academy, St. Agnes High School and the Latin American Institute. Carla accepted a position with Western Union Telegraph Company in 1951. She remained with that company until 1988. At the time, she was handling executive problems for the Office of the President at corporate headquarters. She retired to Springfield, Missouri in May of 1988.

She was a member of the American Business Women's Association for many years with one of her many accomplishments winning Woman of the Year. Carla was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution for 50 years.

She joined the staff of the Springfield Symphony Association in 1992 as a volunteer Administrative Assistant. It proved to be one of her greatest pleasures.

Carla leaves no family, but many beloved friends.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 16 from 6-8pm at Klingner-Cope Funeral Home at Rivermonte, 4500 S. Lone Pine Ave. Graveside services will be held on Friday at 10am in Maple Park Cemetery.
