Marion H. Pendleton

Springfield - Marion Henry Pendleton passed away on February 3, 2018. He was born Feb. 1, 1924 in Shannon County, Missouri. He was the third of seven children born to Frank and Edith (Lemley) Pendleton. Marion attended public school in Shannon County. During World War II, Marion served in the United States Marine Corps. He saw service in the South Pacific and later with the occupational forces in Japan. Marion married Marjory Frances Wallis in Birch Tree, Missouri June 25, 1949. They made their home in Springfield, MO where both attended Southwest Missouri State. Marion graduated in 1954. After three years of teaching, Marion returned to his preferred profession, construction. The last 28 years and eight months of his working career were spent as a building inspector for the City of Springfield. Marion joined the Pleasant Grove Methodist Church, near Teresita, Missouri May 23, 1935. He transferred his membership to Dale Street United Methodist in 1977.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Edith; his wife, Marjory, three sisters, Gladys Keller, Phyllis Hankins, and Dorothy Martin; and two brothers, Richard and Frank.

Marion is survived by his brother, Roy of Camanche, IA; nine nephews, four nieces, and a large number of grand nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 in Greenlawn Funeral Home South with funeral services to follow at 10:00 a.m. and interment in Hazelwood Cemetery. Marion will be deeply missed.
