Arvetta Galloway Carlew

Arvetta Galloway Carlew, 89, Rogersville, passed away at 8:34 p.m., Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield.

She was born October 27, 1922 in Rogersville, Missouri, the daughter of the late Ebb and Virgie (Humble) Klepper. She was united in marriage to Gerald D. Galloway. He preceded her in death in 1961. In December of 1967 she was united in marriage to Leonard Carlew. He preceded her in death in 1998. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Jerry and Duane Galloway in 2006.

Arvetta was a life-long resident of the Rogersville area. She worked as a packer with Lilly-Tulip over 25 years before retiring in 1983. Following retirement she then worked for Weight Watchers for many years.

She was a lifelong member of Harmony Baptist Church and served as secretary/treasurer for many years. She enjoyed boating on Table Rock Lake, crocheting, playing cards, especially with her grandkids, and cooking a big meal and having all her family home.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

She is survived by a son, John Galloway and his wife Penny, Wichita, KS; two daughters-in-law, Barbara Galloway, Russellville, AR; and Becky Galloway, Springfield; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, three great- great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank Rogersville Care Place for the loving care given to Arvetta during the last year.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2012 in J.D.Lee and Sons Funeral Home, Rogersville. Burial will follow in Galloway Cemetery, Springfield.

Visitation will be held from 6 - 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 12, 2012 in the funeral home.

The family request memorial donations to Galloway Cemetery and/ or Harmony Baptist Church.
