Betty R. Vest Obituary
Betty R. Vest

Betty Rae (Dobbins) Vest, age 82, of Aldrich, Mo., passed away in Mercy Hospital on Saturday, June 29, 2013.

Betty was born September 24, 1930 and was a lifelong resident of the Walnut Grove, Aldrich, and Eudora area. The granddaughter of a charter member, Betty was a lifelong member of Eudora Baptist Church. One of her joys was quilting, and through the years, she quilted numerous beautiful baby quilts for newborns. An avid cook, Betty's welcome or thank you note was often consisted of a freshly baked pie. Until her death, she took great delight in keeping her lawn neat, often mowing and trimming twice a week. A genuine lover of her family, she took immense pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and showed them her love at every opportunity. She was a graduate of Morrisville High School (Marion C. Early) in 1948.

Ralph and Betty Dobbins were united in marriage on July 3, 1949. To this union two children were born, John and Judy. Together they were privileged to share over 60 years.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; parents, Clyde and Muriel Dobbins; and sister, Zola Mae Hagerman.

She is survived by her son, John and wife Donna Vest of Lebanon, Mo.; daughter, Judy and husband Gary Parkison of Walnut Grove, Mo.; sister, Martha Coble; five grandchildren: Becky Vest, Joni and husband Gavin Floyd, Jamie Vest, Jeff and wife Kim Parkison, and Kevin and wife Shylena Parkison; and four great-grandchildren: Zianna and Kiyia Parkison, Grayden Floyd, and Hattie Parkison.

Services will be held on Saturday, July 13 at 10:30 a.m. in Eudora Baptist Church with Rev.'s Jim White and Jim Vest officiating. Burial will follow in the Greene Lawn Cemetery, Walnut Grove. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday (today) in the Wilson Brim Daniel Funeral Chapel in Walnut Grove.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Eudora Baptist Church building fund.
