Don Ross "Skip" Silsby

Don Silsby, better known as "Skip", 80, of Albuquerque, N.M. passed away unexpectedly from a recent and severe illness on Wednesday May 20, 2015.

He was born June 23, 1934 in Mt Vernon, Mo., to the late Dr. Don and Thelma Silsby. His family moved to Springfield, Mo., at the end of WWII. He graduated Kemper Military School and attended Drury University. While there he was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. Skip was a Veteran, serving his country in the U.S. Army.

After completing his military service he moved to Albuquerque where he worked many years in the carpet and flooring business. He was a well known and respected businessman owning his own business, "The Flooring Center", until he retired in 2009. He was an avid Bass fisherman, spending time at the Lake House in Missouri whenever he and his wife Beverly could get away. He was a member of Hoffmantown Church.

Skip is survived by his wife, Beverly; three children, Kristen (Joel) Reitz, Michael Silsby and Gregory Silsby; four grandchildren, Cindy, Kerri, Sam and Michael Ross; four great-grandchildren, Sister, Mary Ellen (Dick) Hart; two nieces and two nephews.

In addition to his parents, Skip was preceded in death by his daughter Jody Lyn and his brother James Edward Silsby.

Skip's family will receive friends on Monday, June 1 at 2 p.m. to a "Celebration of His Life" at the Hoffmantown Church, 8888 Harper Dr. NE Albuquerque, NM 87111.
