Harold "Leon" Krutsinger

Harold "Leon" Krutsinger, 93, passed away Monday February 22, 2021 at his home in Springfield, MO. Leon was born in Diamond, MO, December 29, 1927, the son of Frank Krutsinger and Naomi Waggoner Krutsinger. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Naomi; his brothers, Raymond and Bob Krutsinger; and his daughter, LeaAnn Krutsinger Hartzell Berndt.

Leon also proudly served in the military. He was part of the last group of 18 year-olds drafted in the Army during WWII. He was part of the 3rd Training Regiment and 20th Battalion at Fort McClellan. After his time in the military, he married the love of his life, B. Joyce Lankford. They married on January 28, 1955, to this union of 66 years, two daughters were born.

He was a professional driver for 45 years. He had his own business for the first 20 years. The last 25 years he drove for Consolidated Freightways, where he won awards for his safe driving. He was also a member of Teamsters Union Hall's in Joplin, MO, Springfield, MO, and Nashville, TN, where he retired December 30th, 1992.

Leon was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Springfield, MO, served in the food pantry, SMART Team member, and small maintenance and repair teams. He also donated his time to Habitat for Humanity to help build homes in Springfield, MO.

He cherished his family, neighbors, and friends. He was always there to lend a helping hand. He had a wicked sense of humor, quick with the one lines if you knew him well.

Leon is survived by his wife Joyce of the home; daughter Gaelyn Westfall Hoelzle (Mark) of Ozark, MO; grandchildren: Tyler Hartzell (Rachael) of Bartleville, OK, Weston Hartzell of Rolla, MO, Andy Westfall of Republic, MO, and Anna Westfall of Ozark, MO; three great grandchildren: Adilyn (Addi), Eleanora (Nora), and Maverick (MJ), and a host of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, March 8th, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Springfield, MO. Donations may be made to the FBC Foreign Mission Program.
