Herbert Troutman

Herbert Troutman, 84, of Buffalo passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. He was born June 5, 1928 in Troutman, NC. He enlisted in the Army in 1946, and worked in aircraft and missile electronic maintenance, retiring in July 1967 from the Air Force with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer-4.

He settled in Buffalo and spent his remaining years working for his community. He lent his calm strength and leadership to any event or activity that benefitted Buffalo or Dallas County, including three terms as Presiding Commissioner, Pleasant View Senior Apartments, the Buffalo Medical Center, OACAC, Dallas County Public Housing Agency, industrial development, Civil Air Patrol, Chamber of Commerce, and Dallas County Toys for Tots.

He was preceded in death by his son, Michael. He is survived by Rosie, his wife of 64 years; brothers Jacob and Robert Compton and their families, NC; his daughter Jody and husband Miles Noennig, Springfield; his granddaughter Amileigha Troutman, Milwaukee, WI; and his grandson Wiley Ross, wife Naomi and their daughter Veda Moon, Austin, TX.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7:30pm, Thursday, April 25th, at Montgomery-Viets Funeral Home in Buffalo, MO.
