Kenneth Eugene Buckner Obituary
Kenneth Eugene Buckner

Pleasant Hope - Kenneth Eugene Buckner was born in Pleasant Hope, MO to Earl and Clesta (Prater) Buckner on January 22, 1941. He passed away at the family dairy farm, where he proudly resided for 18 years, on August 5, 2018 at the age of 77.

Kenneth married his highschool sweetheart, Barbara (Burdette), who he fondly referred to as "Blue Eyes" on November 24, 1960. To this union they were blessed with three children: Connie, Jeff and Kenny. They lived in the Fair Grove/Pleasant Hope area until 2000.

Kenneth worked on many road construction jobs during the day. He spent many nights hauling hay where he made four lifelong friends: Johnny Highbarger, Mackey Boles and the Kelb Brothers, Rick and Terry. They had a special bond that lasted many years beyond the hayfield.. Later, Kenneth worked at DFA for 23 years until a tragic car accident that altered his life forced him to retire in 2002.

Kenneth loved fishing, gigging, and hunting, with a special fondness for quail hunting. He enjoyed trips to the casino, watching Cardinals ballgames, and sharing game highlights with his brother, Charles. He loved telling stories, watching Nascar, and swapping racing stories with his friend, Jimmy (JR) Blair. He loved Oreos, Mountain Dew, peanut butter and tomato sandwiches, and big breakfasts. He was hard working and honest, sometimes to a fault.

Kenneth fought a courageous battle with a myriad of health issues. He was a dialysis patient for over seven years at the Fresenius Clinic in Bolivar under the care of Dr. Sommersfeld and his team of angels that showed abundant love and care to him.

He was baptized into the Baptist Church as a teenager and professed his love for the Lord. He was so ready to leave this life and to be rid of suffering to enter his Heavenly home.

He will be greatly missed by his devoted wife of 57 years, Barbara; his three children: Connie (Gary) Davis, Jeff (Amy) Buckner, and Kenny (Lezlie) Buckner; 4 grandchildren: Jessica, Joshua, Bethany and his "Little Buddy", Kolten; his 5 step grandchildren: Emily, Andy, Brady, Matthew (Courtney) and Emily; and his 3 great grandchildren: Aubrey (and her mother, Jessey), Clayton and Jacob: His brother, Charles (Donella) and a sister, Kathryn: His best friend, Jimmy Blair: Brothers in law; DeWayne (Janice), Bob (Cathy) Burdette and a sister in law, Edie (Doug) Mullings. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Kenneth requested that there be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated to the American Kidney Fund.
