Vernon Barnett

Vernon Barnett, age 90, Lebanon, Missouri, passed away on July 7, 2013 in Columbia, Missouri. He was born in Competition, Mo. on October 5, 1922 to Marvin Thomas and Ruth Elizabeth Baker Barnett.

Vernon was owner and operator of Barnett Ice Company for many years. He was a member of First Baptist Church.

He was united in marriage to Faye Dean Miller on November 15, 1952.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Gregory Alan Barnett; one brother, Leo; two sisters, Alpha Young and Willa Kathryn Fike.

Vernon is survived by his wife, Faye Dean; three sons, Bradley Vernon Barnett and his wife Cindy of Bunceton, Mo., Brent Alan Barnett and his wife Linda of Nixa, Mo., and John Brian Barnett and his wife Mary Beth of St. Louis, Mo.; six grandchildren, Matthew Ryan Barnett, Amanda Nicole Barnett Wright, Andrew Jordan Barnett, Jacob Brian Barnett, Ashley Marie Nelson-Benny, and Travis Louis Nelson; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in Shadel's Colonial Chapel. Pastor Nolan Carrier will be officiating. Visitation will be at 12:30 p.m. until service time also on Wednesday in the funeral chapel. Burial will follow services in Mt. Rose Memorial Park.

Memorials have been suggested to Project 25:35 at First Baptist Church in Lebanon (meals on Wednesday evening at the church for hungry families in the Lebanon community) or Parkinson's Disease. Donations can be left at Shadel's Colonial Chapel, P.O. Box 948 Lebanon, MO 65536
