Gertrude Alexander

Gertrude (Trudy) Alexander, MD, 94, died Jan. 8, 2013, following a period of declining health. She was born in Koenigsee, Germany, October 14, 1918, one of three daughters of Walter and Helene Reinhardt. Following medical school and practicing in Germany, Trudy emigrated to the US in 1953. She and her husband, James Alexander, MD, lived for many years in Columbus, Ohio where she completed her psychiatric residency at The Ohio State University and spent most of her career as a psychiatrist for the OSU Student Health Service. She and her husband then retired to Ft. Myers, Florida where they were avid duplicate bridge players and where Trudy earned Life Master ranking. She and James recently celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary. She is survived by her husband, James, sister, Christa Wellmann of Bocholt, Germany, daughter and son-in-law, Susi and Dwight Churchill of Sunapee, NH and their children, Christina, Claire, and Alex, daughter, Christina Martin, DDS of Tampa, FL and her children Lauren and Jack. She was predeceased by her sister, Charlotte Ruhsam of Koenigsee, Germany.
