Fort Myers - March 6,1926 - May 27, 2018

Dorothy was born in Manilla, Iowa and lived there or in the nearby county seat of Denison for the first 30 years of her life. After graduating from high school she attended business school and later beauticians college graduating from both.

In October of 1953 she married her husband of 57 years William L. Ballantine. In February of 1955 they welcomed their son William F. L. Ballantine into the family. In 1959 the family moved to Fort Myers where she lived for the past 59 years.

Dorothy was a volunteer Grey Lady for Orangewood School, Welcome Wagon Lady for Fort Myers, and secretary for the deans office at F.M.H.S. Her husband Bill established South Trail Garden Center and for many years the two of them operated the nursery. Dorothy was a member of St. Michael Lutheran Church for 59 years and she was involved in many voluntary activities at the church.

Dorothy is survived by her son William F. L. Ballantine, 3 brothers in laws, 5 sister in laws, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband William L. Ballantine, parents Leonard and Margaret Holdsworth, brothers Harold, Bob, and Raymond Holdsworth and sister Darlene Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, please send a memorial to either the or the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Michaels Lutheran Church in Fort Myers (corner of Carroll and Broadway) on Wednesday June 20th at 4 PM.
