Glenn Mulligan Obituary


Obituary

Glenn Edward Mulligan, 81, of Ft. Myers Beach died Feb. 1, 2002. He was born in Bradley, IL, son of the late Edward and Eloise Mulligan. Mr. Mulligan was a graduate of Bradley High School, Class of 39 and the Chicago Barber College. He was elected to public office in Bradley, IL. and first served as City Clerk and later as Trustee and served as Mayor of Bradley for 22 years. He owned and operated Mulligan's Barber Shop for 50 years. In his later years he procured work for the disabled and handicapped of the Kankakee County Training Center. Mr. Mulligan was a member of St. Joseph Church and President of the Holy Name Society of Bradley, IL. and after retirement a Member of Our Lady of the Lakes Church of Monticello, IN and St. Columbkille of Ft. Myers. He served in the U.S. Marines as a sergeant, was a decorated WWII Veteran, and was wounded in combat, receiving the Purple Heart and Silver Star. He was a tank commander serving in the South Pacific. Mr. Mulligan was a Past President, Charter and Life Member of VFW Post 6502 of Bradley, IL and a member of the American Legion for 46 years.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine Wright Mulligan, 3 sons, James Edward Mulligan of Bradley, IL, Mike (Ronda) of Bourbannais, IL, and Jack (Carol) Sederstrand of Dayton, Ohio, 1 daughter, Cathie Bergan of Bradley, IL, 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, February 4, at 12:00 noon at St. Columbkille Catholic Church, 12170 Iona Road. Family will receive friends one hour prior to Mass at the Church. Arrangements by Harvey-Engelhardt-Metz Funeral Home, 1600 Colonial Blvd.
