Pastor John Ledbetter, Jr.

Fort Myers - Pastor John Ledbetter, Jr., 80, a resident of Ft. Myers for the past 51 years, formerly of Crescent City, FL, passed away Thursday, July 5, 2018 in Ft. Myers. He was born in Sylvania, GA on April 17, 1938 to John, Sr., and Roxann Ledbetter, now deceased.

John was of the Christian faith. He retired after working at the Fort Myers News Press for 32 years. Previously, he worked at Cement Industries for 10 years. John was known for his green-thumb and his willingness to "father" a host of children in the neighborhood. He was proud of the love he shared with his wife, Mary Ledbetter.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ledbetter of Ft. Myers; children, Joshua Ledbetter of NJ, Jeffrey Ledbetter (Doreen) of NJ, Margaret Blackwell (Robert) of GA, Dorothy Ledbetter (Adewola) of GA, John Ledbetter of N.J, Julius Ledbetter (Kris) of GA and Norris Ledbetter (Nancy) of Cape Coral; stepchildren, Taylor Timmons (Arlene) of Tampa, McClary Timmons (Sue) of NC, Bonnie Bell Timmons of Tampa, Margaret Lockhart (Lee) of Ft. Myers, Noretha Timmons (Larry) of Tampa, Chyanne Harris (Mike) of Cape Coral, Edell Timmons (Darryl) of TX, Doris Spain of GA, Norma Turk (Mike), Janice Baysemore (George) of VT and Violet Crawford (Bobby) of GA; one sister, Angle Duke (Gerald) of Crescent City, FL; three brothers, James Ledbetter (Dorothy) of AL, Joseph Ledbetter (Jessie) of FL and Thomas Ledbetter (Bessie) of Cape Coral; as well as a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by six siblings, Judy Ann, Jerome, Burger, Andrew, Geraldine and Walter Ledbetter; as well as his son John Ledbetter and stepchildren, Kurt Timmons and Wyoming Timmons.

Visitation will be held 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Friday, July 13, 2018 at Mullins Memorial Funeral Home, 3654 Palm Beach Blvd. Fort Myers, 33916.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Friendship Baptist Church, 2030 Palm Ave Ft. Myers, 33916 with Bishop R.H. Battle officiating.
