Kenneth Arland Polcyn Obituary
Kenneth Arland Polcyn

Cape Coral - Kenneth Arland Polcyn passed away at his home in Cape Coral Florida on November 30, 2018. Born June 20, 1936 in Williamsport, PA, Ken grew up on a farm and attended Lycoming College on a football scholarship. Passing up an offer with the Chicago Bears, he moved to New York City to pursue his dream as professional singer. But the Vietnam War intervened when he was drafted into the U.S. Army. This experience combined with his Masters degree from Rollins College and Ph.D. from Florida State led him down exciting pathways that propelled him to numerous countries across the globe. His research in the emerging field of Communication Satellites provided entre to the world's elite and the eventual formation of his own company. In his spare time, Ken was an avid sailor and author of several books. Although his adventures came at a great personal toll, he participated in life in ways that most can only dream. Ken is preceded in death by his parents, Stanley M. and Dorothy Reber Polcyn, and his brother Donald. He is survived by his wife Gina; 2 sons Kent and Lance; 2 grandchildren David and Brian; brother John; and 2 sisters Connie Riefsnyder and Ramona Ridgeway.

Ken donated his body through MedCure for scientific research. A life celebration will be held in lieu of funeral as he would have much preferred laughter to tears. Ken's family thanks Hope Hospice for their compassionate care in his final days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Hospice.
