Dear Cheryl and Family,

Knowing Michael was truly a blessing for us. We often spoke of what a positive man he was. He always smiled, always gave a hug, and always made us laugh. He spread joy everywhere. Having read the messages from others, I know that you must be proud of how he deeply affected so many people; he was a blessing to his students, friends, and family. Our thoughts and prayers will remain with you all.

Love,

Mr Mummert was my teacher in '93, when I was a Dazzler. I am now 25 and when I heard he had passed I was deeply saddened. He was a great man, a great teacher, and a great coach. I am sorry for your loss and the loss that all of Manassas should feel, a great scholar has been lost and should be missed.

Mr.Mummert was my math teacher. I really didn't get to know him that well but well enough to know he was a great person. I remember how he would always tell a joke but would never smile when he said it and thats what made the joke funny. My prayers are with you and you will be missed.

My thoughts and prayers are extended to the family at the loss of your loved one. I had the honor and privilege of knowing and working with Mike, as he began his career of teaching at Parkside Middle School. His jovial, witty and upbeat persona had a strong positive influence in the classroom and among faculty and staff. Mike was truly a very special person and I treasure the legacy of his friendship and special memories. The influence he had on students, adults and loved ones will live on. With my deepest sympathy,

Both of my daughters thought so highly of Mr. Mummert. Kelli especially always called him her favorite teacher. He allowed her to be herself and that means so much to me and to her. When she would try to be silly, he would understand her jokes and keep up with her stories and then make her laugh. For Jamie he was such a funny teacher, and she really loved his class. When I met him I noticed that he generally seemed to like and enjoy all of the kids, so many popped their heads into the classroom to say hello during our meeting, and he smiled and said hello to each and every one of them, and added comments that were unique and special for each individual. I am sure that each one believes they were his favorite student. What a wonderful feeling. He will be so missed.

Mr.Mummert was my teacher this year for 3rd period. He was always trying to help me and my friend whenever we needed it. He explained things to us in ways other teachers couldn't. He always joked around with the class and always made people smile. He would always call my name 3 or 4 times because he told me he had a son named Andrew, and he was used to it. Mr.Mummert will always be remembered and missed by many.

Mr. Mummert was my 7th grade math teacher at Parkside 96-97'. He was one of those teachers that wouldn't let you drown; if you needed help, he was there. Mrs. Mummert, I was your student also in 7th grade (I switched teams mid year). May God be with you and your family right now for strength and comfort. There is not one former student who will forget the way he made our day brighter. He was a 'Dazzler'.

Mr. Mummert not only a teacher but a friend, he knew how to joke and laugh back which you won't find in any other teachers. I have him this year as well as Mrs. Mummert. His room is always set at about 8 degrees which didn't seem to bother him but he said it kept people from falling alseep. Goodbye Mr.Mummert forever and thank you for teaching

Mr. Mummert taught me pre-algebra when I was in 7th grade, from 1998-1999. He opened the windows and turned on the air conditioner in the winter, and he sang "I Feel Good" by James Brown while walking down the hall. He made silly jokes when a student talked to him, or when class was over. He was a fun teacher.

My condolences to all affected by this loss.
