Edward Defield Gibson, Jr. MD, 84, of Panama City Beach, FL passed away on Friday, September 20, 2019.

He was born on February 28, 1935 in Louisville, KY to Edward and Imogene Gibson. He worked as a Medical Director and Psychiatrist for Life Management Incorporated for around 20 years. He was a competitive and good tennis player. Edward was a kind, intelligent, caring, charismatic, Christian, gentleman, who was loved by many. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and his hundreds of patients that he helped throughout the years.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Gibson; three sons, Edward Defield Gibson III, Warren Gibson, Theron Gibson and nine grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 2pm in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-2 pm on Saturday prior to the service.

I was so sorry to read of Dr. Gibson's passing. He was a pleasure to work with and I felt honored that he considered me a friend. I just couldn't get comfortable calling him Hoot after years of calling him Dr...but that was the kind of man he was. He was never too busy to give his input on cases when asked and always had a tall tale to tell. I loved playing guitar and talking about music with him. I thought about him and Nancy often after leaving Life Management. I will miss him. My prayers are with Nancy and his family.

I will miss our many conversations at my lot, all your many stories and they were many. I was glad to see you at Health South wish I would have personal prayed with you that day but was excited to see you. Your trips for Tennis on the cycle, RVing, business, ect. Dear Nancy and Family my condolences to you . I am so sorry to hear we have all lost a great physician and friend . Dr. Gibson helped so many thousands of both patients and coworkers over his many years of service in our field . I once gave cookies out for Christmas in the staff mail boxes ,and being the forever gracious gentleman ,he wrote me a thank you note. They just don't come along like him anymore he was very kind thoughtful and professional. May he Rest In Peace .
