SHAMOKIN - Catherine J. Kapturoski, 101, formerly of Shamokin, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021, of natural causes, at Mount Carmel Senior Living Center.

Catherine was born Dec. 1, 1919, in Shamokin, a daughter of the late Enoch and Mary (Olszewski) Pasierb. She was a Shamokin resident and homemaker until she moved to the Mount Carmel Senior Living Center in 1995.

On Aug. 29, 1942, in the former St. Stephen's Church, Coal Township, she married Edward S. Kapturoski, who preceded her in death.

Catherine worked as a presser for a number of years at the former Shroyer's Dress Factory in Shamokin.

Catherine was a member of the former St. Stanislaus Church, now Mother Cabrini Parish, in Shamokin, where she was an active parishioner.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Agnes Kapturoski, of Bridgewater, New Jersey, Edward and Caroline Kapturowski of Apex, North Carolina, and David Kapturowski and Jeanette Griffith, of Doylestown; a granddaughter, Laura Albanese and her husband, Chris; and a great-grandson, Thayer Albanese, of Scotch Plains, New Jersey; and a brother and sister-in-law, Bernard and Helen Pasierb, of Kulpmont.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five sisters, Irene Sobotor, Stella Stanitski, Verna Koharski, Martha Olshefsky and Cecilia Pulaski; and three brothers, Joseph, Edward and John Pasierb.

KAPTUROSKI - Catherine J Kapturoski, 101, of Mount Carmel Senior Living Center, and formerly of Shamokin. Interment service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday at All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Mother Cabrini Church, 214 N. Shamokin St., Shamokin, 17872. The Stephen A. Chowka Funeral Home, 114 N. Shamokin St., Shamokin, is assisting the family with arrangements.

May the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace Mrs. Kapturoski.. I grew up and still live on the 1400 block of Pulaski. I remember talking to her in Bartol's Store.. She was always nice..... God bless her for living 101 years...

Sorry for your loss. There are many childhood memories of Cucci Catherine. Playing on "the hill" and her telling me to "dont roll too fast", watching Sporty running around chasing everything. May God Bless
