MOUNT CARMEL - Lois Lorraine Harvey, 68, of Mount Carmel, and formerly of Locustdale, passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at the home of her daughter, Tina Artman, with her family by her side.
She was born in Ashland, Jan. 22, 1953, a daughter of the late George C. and Amellia (Shields) Kerner.
She graduated from Ashland High School.
Lois was married to Robert Harvey Sr., until his passing in March 2011. They both worked at Knoebel's together until she got sick and had cancer, which she survived. They were a very happy couple.
Many years after her husband died, Lois met Kenneth Cochren, of Williamsport, and eventually moved to Williamsport to be with him. She lived with him for many years. He is a wonderful man and was very good to our mother.
Lois ended up in the hospital in November, and it was up and down from there. She came home to her daughter, Tina's, to be comfortable with her family by her side. She was a very loving, strong-willed person and will be missed very much by all who knew her.
She had a very big family. Survivors include her daughters, Melissa, wife of Edward Ringes Jr., of Mount Carmel, and Tina, wife of John Artman, of Atlas; a stepdaughter, Brenda (Harvey), wife of Carl Miscavage, of Shamokin; a son, Bobby Harvey, of Virginia; nine grandchildren, Crystal Kerner, of Fountain Springs, Desirae Kerner, of Mount Carmel, Kayla Sebastian and Logan Artman, both of Atlas, Barbara, Seanna and Travis Zimmerman, all of Shamokin, and Zeth and Felicia Harvey, both of Virginia; 12 great-grandchildren, and she was very close to Kale Buckles and Abrionna Kerner; a sister, Patsy Hinkle, of Locustdale; her partner, Ken Cochren, of Williamsport; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, John Mekosh Jr., in 2000; a grandson, Dee S. Kerner, in 1988; two sister: Ann Logan and Margaret Shivelhood; and a brother, Gerard Kerner.
