SHAMOKIN -Nicholas Alex Zdinak, 64, of 170 E. Dewart St., and formerly of Toronto, Ohio, passed away Feb. 17, 2019, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 8, 1955, in Steubenville, Ohio, a son of the late Elek and Catherine (Bednar) Zdinak.

Nick was a 1973 graduate Toronto High School in Toronto, Ohio. He attained a business degree from Jefferson Technical Institute in Steubenville, Ohio, and also attended Dixon's Floral Design in Lakeland, Ohio.

He owned and operated CarLaines Florist in Toronto, Ohio, for 12 years.

Nick served in the U.S. Peace Corps, living in Africa for two years. He was also a very talented artist who created and sold Pysanky eggs.

He was a member of Transfiguration Ukrainian Catholic Church, Shamokin

Nick is survived by sisters, including Cathy Terpenning and her husband, Raymond; and a brother, Dan Zdinak and his wife, Debra, all of Toronto, Ohio; nieces and nephews; a special cousin, Rev. Miles Zdinak and his wife, Liz; and their children, Paul and Juliana, of Windber; and many other cousins.


ZDINAK - Nicholas Alex Zdinak, 64, of 170 E. Dewart St., Shamokin. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today in Transfiguration Ukrainian Catholic Church, Shamokin, with Rev. Mykola Ivanov as celebrant. Interment will be held in Toronto, Ohio, at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions can be made to SS Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, 141 Hoffman Farm Road, Windber 15963. The Stephen A. Chowka Funeral Home, 114 N. Shamokin St., Shamokin, is assisting the family with arrangements.
