SHAMOKIN - Frank Robert Hogarty, 80, of Shamokin, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2021.
He was born Oct. 5, 1940, in Shamokin, a son of the late Martin E. and Loretta (Gabriel) Hogarty.
Frank married Carol Anne Christiana in January of 1960. Frank and Carol had three children, whom they loved and cherished and for whom they sacrificed for their entire lives. They were truly great parents.
He was a member of the Mother Cabrini Church, Shamokin.
Frank was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and was an "A" member of Keystone Fish and Game Association and the Fairview Gun Club.
He loved target shooting, casting bullets, reloading ammo, Marlin lever-action rifles and cowboy lever-action silhouette competitions. He had made many friends and won many awards over the years for his marksmanship at these competitions.
Frank was an animal lover who had many good hunting dogs over the course of his life. He was always seen out and about walking his dogs.
He had a long career at the National Ticket Co. He started there in 1964 and worked until his retirement in 2004.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Anne Hogarty, on Nov. 17, 2009.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Chernago and her husband, Ron, and Patty Zurick and her husband, Ken, all of Shamokin; a son, Michael Hogarty and his wife, Danette, of Danville; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren: David Tamkus and his wife, Natalie, who have two children, Jack and Jonah; Kimberly Lucas and her companion, Joseph Kabana, Kimberly has a son, Tyler Lucas; Jamie Lynn Hogarty and her companion, Brian Seidel, Jamie has a son, Jelani Gist; Haley Swartz and her husband, Colby, who have two children, Bryer and Jax; and his special grandson, Chase Hogarty; a sister, Mary Fatz and her husband, Tony, of Annapolis, Maryland, who have two children, Tony and Mary Kay.
Frank will be greatly missed by his loving family.

HOGARTY - Frank Robert Hogarty, 80, of Shamokin. There will be no viewing or visitation. Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. Monday in Mother Cabrini Church, Shamokin. Interment will follow in St. Edward's Cemetery, Coal Township. The Stephen A. Chowka Funeral Home, 114 N. Shamokin St., Shamokin, is assisting the family with arrangements.
