Age: 89 • Stuarts Draft

Rev. Judson Dwight Baldwin, 89, of Stuarts Draft, peacefully entered his heavenly home on Saturday, January 16, 2016, at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

Born December 27, 1926 in Culpeper, VA, he was the son of the late Gary Bell and Jessie Maude (Burton) Baldwin.

He graduated from Mathews County High School in 1943, and then served as a Merchant Marine in the Atlantic, Pacific and Mediterranean Middle East War Zones from 1945-1947.  Following his military career, he graduated from Madison College in Harrisonburg, VA in 1952 where he met his wife of 63 years, Isabelle (Haga) Baldwin.

After attending Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC, he served as a minister of the Gospel in a number of churches including: Slate Mills and Mt. Holly Baptist Churches near Culpeper, Va, Vaughn Summit Mission and Rileyville Baptist Church near Luray and Stuarts Draft Baptist Church where he served for 29 years.

After his retirement, he ministered to the residents of the Stuarts Draft Christian Home and Beulah Land Campus where he participated weekly in their worship services.

He is survived by his wife, Isabelle; son, Tom and wife, Jan of Winston Salem, NC; daughter, Jeanine Davis and husband, Tim of Williamsburg, VA; six grandchildren, Drew Baldwin and wife, Cora, Amber Baldwin and Lucas, Chila, Olga, and Justin Davis; special friends, Henry and Martha Black, Barbara Coffey and others who ministered to him during his recent illnesses.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 1870 Stuarts Draft Highway, Stuarts Draft with Rev. Paul Glovier officiating.  Burial will follow in Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
