Richard Cooper Durrette
Staunton - Richard Cooper Durrette, 91 of Staunton, Virginia passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at his residence.
He was born in Nelson County, Virginia on September 4, 1929, a son of
the late Lewis Daniel and Lee Essie (Henderson) Durrette.
He served in the United States Army, was a lifetime member of Union Baptist Church in Avon, Virginia and retired from Wayne-Tex, Inc. in Waynesboro, Virginia.
He was a member of H.O.G. (Harley Owners Group of Staunton) Motorcycle Club and was call "Derby".
His parents; first wife, Josephine (Freeman) Durrette; one son, Richard Durrette, Jr; one daughter, Annabelle Durrette; numerous brothers and sisters all preceded him in death.
Richard is survived by one daughter, Rosa Lee (Durrette) Fuller; two grandchildren, Paulette Durrette (Patrick Watt) and Louis Lee Fuller; four great grandchildren, Tiffany Davis, Keshorn Fuller, Taleejah Watt and Patrick Aston-Cooper Watt; one brother, Gilbert, Durrette, Sr.; devoted nephew, Roy H. Durrette, Jr. a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Out of an abundance of caution due to the coronavirus outbreak, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
