Wilma J. Huffer
Staunton - Wilma Jean (Wilson) Huffer, 85, formerly of Churchville, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2021.
Born August 17, 1935 in Augusta County, Virginia, she was the daughter of Blanche Josephine Wilson Mitchell. Wilma retired from Western State Hospital as a psychiatric aide. She was a member of Parnassus United Methodist Church and the Staunton Senior Center. She enjoyed singing and cooking and serving in support roles within the church and the senior center as well as within her own family. She especially enjoyed participating in Meals on Wheels.
Wilma was preceded in death by her mother; her step father, Grover Cleveland Mitchell; her husband, Robert Arnold "Bob" Huffer; and an infant daughter, Sarah Grace Huffer. She is survived by four children, Teresa Dale Hostetter of Churchville, Mitchell Wayne Cowles and wife Debbie of Crimora, Stacey Lynn Mitchell and fiancé Kathy Waliky of Fort Defiance, and Kimberly Dawn Huffer Miller and husband Jerry of Churchville; two step children, Danny Huffer and wife Debbie, and Cathy Flavin and husband Glenn, all of Churchville; ten grandchildren, Daniel Huffer, Beth Hostetter, Meghan Mitchell Pforr, Donovan Huffer, Matthew Mitchell, Caitlin Cowles, Hailey Cowles, Austin Grazul, Holly Miller, and Madison Grazul; nine great-grandchildren; a special friend and sister-in-law, Pat Huffer of Staunton; and dear friend Brenda Segoviano of Staunton.
A graveside service will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, January 10 in Green Hill Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Vicki Barb.
