Our beloved son, brother, cousin, uncle, nephew, grandson and friend left us all too soon and entered the arms of Jesus in the early morning of May 2, 2013.
Lori Baker and Harlen Frank were so happy to announce the birth of their baby boy, Jordan Lee Emerson Baker, on Feb. 2, 1987. They raised him in their village of Minto, where he attended school and graduated with the class of 2005.
Jordan had friends from all across the state and was easy to get along with. Whenever you would see him, Jordan always had a smile on his face. He was an outgoing person and was never shy to talk to anyone. He once went up to the governor at the time and had his picture taken with Sarah Palin at Fred Meyer in Fairbanks.
He was always willing to help anyone in need. You could always count on Jordan to run an errand for you no matter what is was. Even though he barely had anything, he would always give what he had to others.
Jordan was looking forward to taking the pack test to be a firefighter this summer. He was a very determined person and pushed himself to do better. He told his mom once, "In the fall of my 26th year, my life will turn around. I want to do better for myself."
He had filled out all the papers and was very excited about starting school at AVTEC in Seward this fall. He excelled and accomplished anything and everything he set his mind to do. One accomplishment for him was winning the Best Film Award in the making of "Minto Memorial Potlatch" in 2005.
Jordan was an exceptional chef and loved to cook for family and friends. He would always volunteer to babysit his nieces and nephew and loved to be around them. If he wasn't with them, you would see him walking around the village listening to his iPod. Jordan was an active person and loved to listen to music as he was working out or dancing to his favorite song. Another thing he liked was watching movies and TV series. He would always say, "This is my new favorite TV show!" about any new series on TV. On Saturday nights, he liked to drive around the village listening to Club K-Wolf on the radio.
Whenever his Grandma Jennie went to Fairbanks, he would always ask for fresh produce. He would tell her, "I don't care what you get, as long as you get me some fresh fruit and vegetables." That led to his love of gardening. Every spring, he would plant vegetables in his grandma's yard and couldn't wait to pick them in the summer, sometimes a little too early.
Jordan would call people from all over just to talk and check up on them if he hadn't seen them for a while. When you talked to him, he always had some kind of story to tell of what was going on in the village and he was truthful in his own way, telling detail for detail. Sometimes when he told you something, you had to tell him to slow down because he would get excited and couldn't wait to tell you what had happened.
Jordan was a hard sleeper but some way he woke right up when he heard someone yell from outside that his mom's house was on fire. People didn't know there were kids inside the house. He put his family before his life and went into the house by the back window to wake his brother, Christian; sister, Claudia; and cousin, Kerry in the bedroom. The house was filled with smoke and he went to the front of the house where the family dog, Windy, was frozen from fear and carried her to the back of the house where they all crawled out the window to safety. Because of his bravery and quick thinking, no one was hurt in that fire of June 2011.
Jordan is survived by his mother, Lori Baker (Curtis Erhart); brothers, Gareth (Lynessa) Baker, Galen Frank, Christian Baker and Tay-Tay Baker; sisters, Beth Alexander, Claudia Thompson, Susan Frank and Mercedes Frank; grandmothers, Jennie Baker and Emma Frank; great-grandmother, Elsie Titus; great aunt, Barbara Jean (Frank Neville) and family of Sidney, Ohio; grandfathers, Carlos (Emma) Frank Sr. , and Luke (Alice) Titus; uncles, William (Janella) Baker, Ron Baker Sr., Gary Frank, Jeff Frank Sr., Geneway (Elecia) Frank, Richard Frank, Freddy Titus, David Titus, Tommy (Theresa) Titus, Ray (Diane) Titus, Lee (Lorraine) Titus, Carlos (Clara Custer) Frank Jr., Robert Erhart and Chuck Erhart; aunties, Sheryle (Kenny) Charlie, Linda Baker (Roy Charlie), Carla (Patrick Sr. Smith, Joyce Frank (Lloyd Charlie), Maggie Titus (Roy Nictune), Lennie Slaby, Diane Hutchins, Elizabeth Frank, Valerie Sotelo, Shonda (Darren) Gene, Tammy Alexander and Agnes Silas (Dudley Smith); nieces, Brielle and Tayla Baker, Genessa Frank; nephew, Terrance Frank; special cousins, Jonathan Titus, Joeanna Anderson, Shawnee Frank, Jesse (Candace) Charlie, Joshua Titus and Samantha Kanayurak (Greg Overby); the Baker family of Ohio; special friends, Melissa Charlie, Vanessa Joseph, Dee-Dee Jimmie, Bianca Charlie, Nicole Jimmie, Carleen Charlie, Florence Grant and Holly Charlie, and many numerous cousins.
