Bonitta (Boni) Joyce Johnson-Larson, 43, died at the Mat-Su Regional Hospital in Palmer on Feb. 16, 2013. She was born Oct. 19, 1969. She moved from Oregon to Fairbanks in 1986, where she lived until 2005, when she moved to Palmer.
She worked at Super Value in North Pole and Fairbanks, and at Fred Meyer and Sam's Club in Fairbanks. She also did a home daycare from 1999 to 2004, in Fairbanks. She was a certified nursing assistant and certified management accountant. She worked for the Palmer Pioneers' home from 2007 to 2009.
Her special interests included cake decorating, crafts and watching her kids play football, baseball, hockey, wrestling and soccer. Boni was a wonderful caring and doting mother of three wonderful kids. Boni made many sacrifices so she could be there to take care of them. She put her career second, so she could be there for her kids and her husband. She always made sure everything was taken care of before her own needs. She would have lunches made and clothes ready even when she was very sick.
Boni would always make sacrifices so her family and kids came first. She had the ability to make something beautiful out of nothing. Boni would make the most beautiful cakes for the kid's birthdays and even made her own wedding cake, which was unbelievably beautiful.
The one thing that all family members knew is Boni would never go out in public unless her hair was perfect. Boni would even bring a butane curling iron with her on a caribou hunt, no matter how much ribbing and teasing she would get. Boni also had an outgoing personality that was infectious, which helped her when she was working retail and when she was working as a certified nursing assistant for the Pioneers' Home. Before Boni got sick, she could go up to anybody and talk and make people laugh. She was incredibly strong, right up until her passing.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Larson, of Palmer; son, Keegan Larson; daughters, Kenzey Larson and Krystina Mungia; granddaughters, Elisa and Amelia Mungia; brothers, Eric Herner, of Oregon; and Jeff Herner, of Minnesota; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Palmer. Reverend Jonathan Rockey will officiate.
The family was taken care of by Legacy Kehl's Palmer Chapel.
