Agnes Womack Obituary

Agnes Claire Womack (Lynch) passed away Feb. 2, 2013, at Eagles Wings Assisted Living in North Pole, from complications of Alzheimer's disease. She was 91.
Claire was born Jan. 5, 1922, in Custer County, Mont. She married her husband, Ray Womack, on Aug. 28, 1970, in Las Vegas, and they moved to Alaska in May 1974.
Claire retired from the Fairbanks North Star Borough as a cadastral draftsperson in the planning department. She spent most of her adult life as a draftsperson. She did some teaching in Montana and San Diego, and also had a real estate license.
At the end of WWII, Claire worked from 1945-48, as an illustrator for the Boeing B-39. The state of California assessors office in Los Angeles employed her for the next year, 1948-50, as a draftsperson. From 1949-50, she worked for the Atomic Commission in Berkley, Calif. From 1950-1951, she was a draftsperson for the California Department of Highways in San Francisco.
For the next five years, she worked for the U.S. military, from 1951-1953, as an illustrator for the U.S. Navy in Guam, and from 1953-56, as a draftsperson for the U.S. Marine Corps U.S. Navy Training Center. The following four years, from 1956-59, Claire was a draftsperson for Convair in San Diego.
In 1960, she returned to college at San Diego State to complete her final year of a bachelor's degree in art education. She was a social worker for seven years, 1962-69, in San Diego County, and obtained her real estate license in 1971.
Her family states, "We begin to discover that death is not an end, but simply a change, and that a love greater than anything we can possibly imagine is caring for those we love right now."
Claire is survived by her husband, Ray Womack, of Two Rivers; her niece, Gail Nyreen and husband Mick, of Renton, Wash.; and sister-in-law Lois Lynch, of Palm Desert, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her father, Hugh P. Lynch; her mother, Mary A. Grady; her sisters, Margaret P. Callen and Eileen Grosnor; and her brother, Patrick H. Lynch.
A memorial will be determined at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to Chapel of Chimes Funeral Home.
